VNA Home Health Community Outreach

Promoting good health is a vital part of our mission at VNA. We accomplish this task through home health visits and special events in the community.

Community Outreach Healthy Living Screenings

Our nurses travel to senior community centers and living facilities within the greater Kansas City area to provide free healthy living screenings, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar/glucose tests, total cholesterol screenings and body mass index calculations. During screenings, VNA nurses also educate participants on the importance of healthy living and how to interpret their screening results.

Fall Prevention

Because research indicates falls are a leading cause of injury among older adults, VNA also provides fall risk assessments in a program we call Prevention Power. VNA physical therapists visit with patients to conduct balance screenings. They also educate individuals about important preventive measures like daily muscle strengthening exercises, assistive walking devices and timely communication with patient care providers.

Our health promotions and fall risk assessments inform people of varying factors that may affect their well-being. As a result, many Kansas City area residents are becoming more proactive in maintaining health through proper nutrition and physical activity.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit patient care organization, we rely on donations from our community to continue providing quality home health care for those who need it. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to VNA, please visit our online donation page or send a check, payable to VNA Corporation, to our main office:
