We can help you become fully prepared before surgery and recover as quickly as possible afterwards. Our goals are to help you safely improve mobility and regain independence after your total hip or knee replacement.

To accomplish these goals, VNA Home Health Strong Foundations Orthopedic Program provides the following home health services:

  • We work closely with your primary care physician to create a personalized treatment plan to aid in your recovery.
  • After your hospital discharge, we provide physical and occupational therapy, as ordered by your physician, along with guidance on assorted activities for healthy daily living.
  • We provide safety tips, exercises and educational materials to optimize your post-op recovery.

By coming to your home, our Strong Foundations Orthopedic Program allows you to recuperate in the comfort and security of a relaxed, familiar setting. Strong Foundations LSVT® Therapy

When an individual develops Parkinson’s disease or another neurological condition, the effects can quickly diminish their quality of life. The Strong Foundations LSVT® program and rehabilitation team at VNA Home Health follow two nationally recognized programs which are backed by the National Institutes of Health-funded research: LSVT LOUD® and LSVT BIG®. These evidenced based rehabilitation programs help improve the patients’ voice quality as well as their balance and motor control.

LSVT LOUD®
Virtually every person with Parkinson’s disease will develop problems with speech that start early in the disease process. Medicine and neurosurgery typically don’t help speech disorders. The most effective way to improve speech is through speech therapy. The LSVT LOUD® program named for Mrs. Lee Silverman (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) was developed in 1987 and has been scientifically studied for nearly 20 years. Focused on a single goal “speak LOUD!” the treatment does not train people for shouting or yelling; rather LSVT LOUD® uses loudness training to bring the voice to an improved healthy vocal loudness with no strain.

LSVT BIG®
The principles of LSVT LOUD® were applied to limb movement and have been documented to be effective in patients’ diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This protocol was developed specifically to address the patients’ unique movement impairments through many repetitions of core movements that are used in daily living. Initiating the LSVT BIG® program early in disease progress has the greatest impact on the quality of life but can be started at any time with a referral to the program from a physician.

VNA Home Health has the largest team of LSVT® certified therapists that can deliver this specialized treatment in the comfort of the patient’s home.

“My LSVT® patient with Parkinson’s disease was reaching her goals and moving much better after I implemented the program. Her spouse and son made comments about how good she looked just walking around the house. They could tell a difference within the first week. The LSVT BIG® program made a significant difference in her quality of life and gave her a big boost of confidence!”
